FAMILIES FIRST

PRICE INCREASE RESPONSE PLAN

People with a gross monthly income of up to 2,700 euros will receive a support of 125 euros. The payment is made in a lump sum, in October, and does not cover pensioners. For this, it is necessary that taxpayers have their data updated on the Finance and Social Security websites.

In addition to this 125 euro support, a 50 euro subsidy - per dependent - is also planned for the families.

Set of exceptional measures

The Council of Ministers today approved a set of exceptional measures to provide immediate income support for families in order to mitigate the effects of inflation and rising energy costs.
In this sense, the following diplomas were approved:

Decree-Law establishing:

  • The allocation of an extraordinary payment of 125 euros to each non-pensioner citizen with an income of up to 2,700 euros gross per month;
  • The allocation to all families, regardless of income, of an extraordinary payment of 50 euros for each dependent child up to the age of 24;
  • The payment to pensioners of 14 and a half months of pensions, instead of the usual 14 months;
  • Extension until the end of the year of the suspension of the increase in the carbon tax, the return to citizens of the additional VAT revenue, and the reduction of the ISP (tax on petroleum products).

Proposal of a law, to be submitted to the Parliament, which establishes the following measures:

  • Limiting the maximum updating of housing and commercial rents to 2% in the year 2023;
  • Creation of an extraordinary support to leasing, through the attribution of a tax benefit on property income;
  • Reduction of VAT on electricity supply from the current 13% to 6%, a measure in force until December 2023.
  • Pension increases, in 2023, of 4.43% for pensions up to 886 euros, of 4.07% for pensions between 886 and 2,659 euros; and of 3.53% for other pensions subject to updating.
Decree-law that allows, exceptionally, natural gas end customers with annual consumption of less than or equal to 10,000 m3 to return to the regulated tariff regime.
The Government has also determined to freeze the prices of public transport passes and tickets at CP throughout the year 2023, ensuring due compensation to this company and to the transport authorities.
