OE2023: Transfer of Additional IMI drops 3 million euros in 2023

Revenue from the Additional IMI (AIMI), which in 2023 will be consigned to the FEFSS, will amount to 145 million euros, below the 148.1 million euros foreseen for this year, according to the State Budget for 2023 (OE2023).

According to the State Budget for 2023 (OE2023) the revenue from the Additional Property Tax (AIMI) that will be consigned to the FEFSS in 2023, within the scope of the diversification of the Social Security funding sources, will amount to 145 million euros, below the 148.1 million euros foreseen for this year.

The execution forecast for 2022 points to 148.1 million Euros, thus pointing to a decrease of 3.1% next year.

The decrease in AIMI revenue is accompanied by an increase in the share of other revenue assigned to the FEFSS. According to the figures contained in the report accompanying the budget proposal "is being considered a transfer of 38 million euros relating to the additional contribution of the banking sector (...) and 440.2 million euros of the portion of the Corporate Income Tax".

In the case of corporate income tax, the amount foreseen compares with 297.3 million euros for this year, while in the additional contribution from the banking sector, there is an increase from 34 to 38 million euros.

The rise in the consignment of corporate income tax revenue is justified in part by the fact that this measure was implemented in a phased manner, over several years.

In the case of the Additional Municipal Property Tax - which was created in 2017 replacing the previous Stamp Tax on luxury properties (worth more than one million euros), the amount corresponds to the revenue net of charges and deductions, which includes the possibility of deducting the amount paid on account of AIMI from the taxes (IRS and IRC) due for the rental or lodging activity.
